“Drawing is the foundation of everything designed we see in the world around us, and that literally means everything made and manufactured by humans. It’s a way of recording what we see, thinking through ideas and solving problems. Our Big Draw Celebration is part of the University’s philosophy of schools and public engagement. Encouraging young people from all over our county to aspire to Higher Education is part of our community mission and naturally we would like the University of Lincoln to be their first choice. We believe that everyone can draw and enjoy drawing and through activities like the Big Draw we hope to encourage and inspire young people to become the artists and designers of the future”.
The Big Draw
Founded in 2000, The Big Draw is a visual literacy charity that promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool for learning, expression and invention. The charity leads a diverse programme of advocacy, empowerment and engagement, and is the founder and driving force behind The Big Draw Festival – the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. The Big Draw manages collaborative research projects, campaigns and educational conferences on visual literacy, digital technology and STEAM. The charity supports professional and emerging artists through its national contemporary art prize, The John Ruskin Prize and exhibition, and through events, awards, and competitions, creates platforms for each and everyone who wants to draw. www.thebigdraw.org |www.ruskinprize.co.uk
